Jiao Shan Zha, or Toasted Hawthorn Fruit, is the roasted and dried fruit of Crataegus pinnatifida, used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to promote digestion, eliminate food stagnation, invigorate the Spleen, and resolve blood stasis. The toasting process enhances its spleen-warming and digestion-promoting properties, making it especially effective for indigestion from meat and greasy foods, postpartum abdominal pain from blood stasis, and abdominal distension with poor appetite.
