Dan Dou Chi, or Fermented Soybean (Semen Sojae Preparatum), is a traditional Chinese medicinal preparation made from fermented mature soybeans (Glycine max). With a mildly pungent and bitter taste and a gentle thermal nature (slightly warm or slightly cool depending on preparation), it enters the Lung and Stomach meridians, and is valued for its ability to release the exterior, clear irritability, and harmonize the middle burner. It is particularly useful in early-stage colds, low-grade fever, restlessness, and digestive upset.
